1. Smell

Take a few deep breaths to settle your mind. Inhale deeply through your nose, hold for a moment, and exhale slowly through your mouth. 

 

Now take your unlit candle, hold it up to your nose and breathe in. As the aromas fill your lungs, notice what they are and how they make you feel.

Let the aromas and feelings fill you and as you exhale feel the stress and worries of the day melt away. Repeat this process several times until you feel calm and centered.

2. Sight

Light your candle. Watch the light from the match connect to the wood wick and become one. Take a few moments to gaze at the flame. Notice its shape, color, and movement. Observe the subtleties of the flickering light, embracing it with unwavering attention. Let yourself become absorbed by the beauty and purity of the light as it dances on top of the candle. You will find that it is actually quite easy to get lost in.

3. Sound

Close your eyes and listen. Focus on the soft crackling of the wooden wick. Just for a moment, try and tune out other noises. Pay attention to any sensations, thoughts, or emotions that arise. Allow them to come and go without judgment. When you're ready, take in a few more deep breaths, then open your eyes.

Take a moment to express gratitude for the experience and the insights gained. Appreciate the moments of stillness and the rejuvenation it brought to your mind and body.
